Emotions

From this... To This.. After almost 5 years of various callings in Primary and getting rather comfortable in life there, I got released and put into the YW's Presidency. If I had thought about it, I would have seen it coming. Those subtle signs were hitting me for a while. I have become a hermit because of the solidity of my life. Though not without it stresses, I have become accustomed to my patterns. I realized this a few months ago, but have been reluctant to change anything. I also have done a great job in reconnecting with FOUR of my past young women leaders whom I love to death. Anyway, I knew that Bryon was going to be released soon, and I was worried because as long as he was the YM president, I was sort of immune to any big callings. Now I didn't have that problem, so when the call came for the interview, I was hit with the "Oh Crap!" feeling on anticipation and fear. I felt stressed at first combined with the excitement of being in YW's . I...

Student of the Month

Image
I posted a few days ago about Rekebah's breakdown because Bryon couldn't come to her assembly for Student of the Month. Well little did she know that we arranged a few things. Not only was Bryon there, but Grandpa Jim, Justin, Grandma Patsy, CarMarley , Sam of course, and I even pulled Ethen out of class so that he could come too. Ethen wanted to sit by her with all the other 3rd graders. It was sad that her teacher was gone that day, but she prepared something for the sub to read about why Rebekah was chosen. It was cute. I think the best part for her was the free pizza certificate. Congrats babe, and good job.

Official Invitation

I know that there are some of you that are not going to get one in the mail, so I thought I would let you all know this way Rebekah's District Knowledge Bowl Competition is Saturday March 14 th at 10:30am at Oak Canyon Jr. High in Lindon. Comment if you want the address. The whole thing should last about 2 hours and then we are headed to Brick Oven for lunch (her choice). School age children only please since this is a serious competition. Her coach said that if the child can sit still in church they are okay to come. Wait...does that mean I have to stay home? I know she would love you to come and cheer her on.

Best Phone Message EVER (and ever and ever)

When I got home from work today I had one new message on the phone. I checked the caller ID and it said that Patsy, my MIL had called. She was planning on coming for Rebekah's assembly tomorrow so I thought she would be telling me when she was going to get here. Oh no. At first I thought it was a BUTT DIAL, like they say on TV. I couldn't hear anything but muffles. She must have bumped the phone or something to call. As I listened the noises became clear and I heard the methodical whooshing of water in an agitating washing machine. HOLY CRAP!! I want to be the one to tell her that her phone reached out to me for help just before it drowned.

Day your glad you are a mom

1-I went in this morning for a lovely round of counting money at work. On the way home I got a phone call from Aprill saying that Ethen was in the office at school. He was telling everyone that he was having a heart attack. After talking to him, I figured out that he had a substitute today who had no earthly idea about his phobia of the wind and she made him go out for recess. He got a stomach ache from the anxiety and told his friend that he stomach hurt. His friend told him that he was probably having a heart attack. See how that all worked out? I went and picked him up anyway and took him home. 2-Sam was already asleep when we pulled into the school parking lot (which is the plan, it make naps easier on days I have to go into work). I had to wake him up to take him in to get Ethen signed out. Needless to say, that 10 minutes was the only nap he got. I tried everything for two hours and finally gave up. Now he is a cranky little sucker. 3- While getting Ethen I thought I s...

Thanks Kelly

I just read this on my TM friend Kelly's blog. It really helps me to remember that I am not alone. I realize that my lawn is frequently dotted with dog poop, but somehow this is just a bit…(WAY!) more disgusting.Yesterday my kid and his friend were playing in the back yard. They were pretending that different parts of the yard were various rooms in their imaginary house. They moved a patio chair into the living room. There was a snack served in the kitchen. The trampoline was the bedroom. Then I heard talk of the “pee tree”.This is what is known as a RED FLAG.I went outside to investigate. “Where is the pee tree, boys?” They pointed it out to me.“What are you guys doing by the pee tree?”Silence.“You are just pretending that’s a bathroom, right? You’re not really peeing out here are you?”They looked at each other, and then more silence.“Ok, guys. I get it. PLEASE do not pee in the backyard anymore. We are people, not animals.”See? I can be reasonable. No over-reacting here. Cut to...
